The ADVENTure

I turned a corner around a large candy cane and stopped in my tracks.
Up until this point the whole of the forest had identical red striped candy canes; and now here, all of a sudden, was a green one. Standing at the foot of it, looking up, was a short man in a crown.

I called out "hello there!" and evidently startled him as he nearly fell into the snow by turning round so fast.
